Team Iverify Cycles in Country’s Oldest Extreme-Sports Fundraiser to Battle Cancer

Saturday, 2 Aug 2008

On Saturday, August 2, a team of cyclists representing Iverify participated in the 2008 Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, joining more than 5,000 riders from 36 states and eight countries. As a security company, Iverify participated in the PMC as part of its strong commitment to protecting people and giving back to the community.

The oldest extreme-sports fund raiser in the country, the 190-mile, two-day bike ride crosses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to help raise money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Since its founding in 1980, the PMC has raised more money for charity than any other single event in the United States.

“I originally got involved in this event because it combined a physical challenge with an element of greater good,” says Mike May, President and Chief Executive Officer of Iverify. “Two years and more than 200 miles later, the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge has gone from being all about the ride – to a meaningful, long-term commitment to something greater than anything I’ve ever experienced.”

Team Iverify is comprised of Mike May and his wife, Tricia, and their friends, Becky and John Beupre. Collectively the group raised more than $14,000 for the 2008 PMC, including matching funding from Driehaus Capital Management.

Team Iverify kicked off this year’s event with a Field Day at Mike’s Massachusetts home, where friends and family competed in a series of games and athletic competitions. The first-annual Iverify Field Day raised more than $4,500.

“So many of us at Iverify have been touched by cancer and we are committed to helping wipe this disease out,” Mike adds. “Next year, Team Iverify will grow to include even more Iverify employees – with a goal of every team member completing all 190 miles.”
